Our Story
Sirenitas Surf Club began along the coastlines of the Nicaraguan Emerald Coast in March 2017. The program began with a few boards, 3 girls (seen below), and the intention of creating a safe space for young girls to explore their inner power in their local beach break. Surfing became a space to explore, connect and grow but most importantly, have fun!
Six years later, the program has impacted the life of 20+ joyous, adventurous, fear-defying girls. Some of the Sirenitas have been with the project for over 5 years and are competing internationally in Tae Kwan Do, become the first to go to college in their families, and fearlessly taking waves on their own. Through the surf therapy and life planning program, Sirenitas continues to empower girls to take up space, dream big, but most importantly, how to make their own dreams come true.

Meet The Sirenitas

I'm proud that I can call myself a surfer.

Surfing has taught me to be confident in the water.

Surfing helps me feel more confident and conquer my fears.

I thought surfing was for men, now I know women can surf too.

The sound of the ocean calms me and makes me feel safe.

I learned to be a strong and courageous woman.

I have learned to never give up and fight for my dreams.

It helps me to believe in myself and learn something new.

I love sharing every moment with the other Sirenitas.

I conquered the fear of getting onto a surfboard and going surfing.

I feel stronger, more confident. I am proud of the woman I am.
